Fondant Ruffle Cake

It's so Ruffly!!!!  For Bonnie's cake smash photo shoot I made a butter cream ruffle cake, but for her party a really wanted to make a fondant ruffle cake.  They are just so pretty and I hadn't had a reason to make one yet.  And they are actually really easy to make.

I was planning on giving you a tutorial, but I was so busy getting ready for the party that I didn't have time to take a bunch of pictures.  So I found you a really great YouTube tutorial.  It is basically the same method I used, only I used a round ball tool and rolled my fondant out with a rolling pin so it is a little thicker.

I covered the top in opal sugar crystals to give it an extra bit of a "winter ONEderland" feel.

But I guess some people are just hard to impress.  Silly girl.

  3. This is gorgeous! I've never seen this done with fondant. Which would you say is easier to get the ruffled look with, buttercream or fondant? I've done it with buttercream before but am really curious about this. It turned out beautiful!
