I still have another 10 days until my kidos are back in school and we have been trying to make the most of it. Which means not a lot of crafting time, but a lot of mommy time. And since technically my job is Mom, that is probably a good thing. I have been trying to make sure we have something a little extra fun everyday. Kinda like an end of summer blitz. This past week we went to the zoo, painted with new water color sets, had soccer games and ballet lessons and went to the Children's Museum, splash pad, and pool.
If you like cake batter (I am a big fan, I have been known to just eat it plain. Well, mixed with water. I know it is wrong, but it tastes so good.) Anyway, as I was saying, if you like cake batter you are going to love these. Plus, they are cheap, easy, and fast so what is not to like?
1 box white cake mix
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cornstarch
1/2 C vegetable oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup rainbow nonpareils or sprinkles
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix the cake mix, baking powder, and cornstarch in a large bowl. In a smaller bowl mix together the eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Then mix the dry and the wet ingredients together. Stir in the nonpareils/sprinkles. Then drop little spoonfuls on a cookie sheet and bake for about 10 minutes. When they are done, they will look puffy and still be pale. Let them cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes.
My kids totally attacked these cookies. I also may have had a few before dinner.
Oh wow I am extremely worn out tonight. Scott came home a little early from work today and we took the kids to the county fair and then to Madagascar 3. I don't think I would be so tiered if I wasn't SO allergic to animals. As you can imagine there were a lot of animals at the fair and the kids took part in the pony rides and petting zoo and then sat on my lap during the movie. Now I am itchy all over. But we had a ton of fun and I can still breath, so I guess it was worth it.
It was a great way to spend one of our few summer days left.
SO, good news. at the ultrasound today I found out that I still have a healthy baby. Yay! But, bad news, my little baby's legs were just about a tight together as they could be so we were not able to find out the gender. :( Really, truly, that frowny face it the perfect description of how I am feeling right now.
Looking on the bright side I have a ton of projects I need to finish up before I should start on stuff for the baby and with ballet lessons, soccer games, and school starting I have plenty to keep me busy.
So in honor of school starting and having plenty to do so I don't have too think too much about how frowny faced I feel, here are 10 posts full of back to school inspiration.
On Monday, with any luck, I should get to find out if I am having a boy or a girl. I am not going to lie, after 3 boys in a row I am hoping for a girl. (But not as much as Emma is hoping for a sister) I think I am going to video Emma's reaction, because boy or girl I am pretty sure it is going to be funny.
I thought it would be fun for the kids if we turned finding out if they would get a brother or a sister into a party. This won't be a full crazy party, I am still way to sick and tired for that. But every Monday night we have Family Home Evening and I just happen to be finding out on a Monday. So it is more like a Pink or Blue themed super family night and we are having my husband's family over too.
As part of the fun I have encouraged everyone to wear something pink or blue to the party to kinda state their predictions and of course there will be tons of treats
Monday night I will also post here whether we will be doing ruffly projects for the next 5 and half months, or little man projects. Either way it will be fun. Especially since I usually don't keep a lot of things between babies so I am pretty much starting from scratch.
So, if you would like, join in on the fun and make your prediction.
Before I get to the features this week, I have share something I am a LITTLE bit excited about. On Monday I should get to find out if my sweet little baby is a boy or a girl. (insert squeal here)
I know it seems like the new trend is not to find out. But I just can't roll like that. For me there is way to much gender related sewing and planning involved and if this is a girl... hold on to your hats ladies because I many go a little over board. Not that I don't totally LOVE being the mommy to 3 and possible 4 little boys, it is just that I am really ready sew little dresses and blankets with ruffles. Oh oh and make these ridiculous headbands. Ya know?
I will put a post tomorrow where you can leave a comment to cast your predictions. (You know if you feel so inclined) and then I will be having a little gender reveal party Monday Night.
Either way I think I will be making one of these monster bibs. I may have to add a bow. Oh and wouldn't matching burp cloth be so cute!
