I found the black paint last night, so I was able to get my latest awesome project done. Wouldn't you know the paint was exactly where I thought it was. So here it is.
I am pretty glad that I totally love it. It was one of those projects where I was at Home Depot, with all the kids, and I thought to myself "I need more stuff on the walls in the family room." Then I saw wood fence boards and thought "Those are cheap, I could make them into something." So 8 pieces of fence (and a whole lot of changing my mind on what to do with them) later I have this.
I feel like it really warms up the corner and improves visual flow without making it cluttered. Although I could be totally making that up... What do I know.
Mostly I am super happy with what I finally decided to put on it. At first I was going to hang it the other way and write family on it. Then I decided to put it in the corner and turn it the the way it is now. I had about 100 different ideas of what to write on it. Finally I thought..."well what is simple that I would want my children to always remember?" So I settled on "you are loved...always."
Hopefully they will see that everyday and remember that they are loved and that they should always show their love for others. And there will always be peace and brotherly love in our home.
A mom can dream can't she???

ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS!!! And want to recreate... How did you do the lettering? If it was stencils, how do you keep it from bleeding? Your letters looked perfect!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Are there plans for a tutorial on this? How did you get the boards to stay together and where did u get the distressed fence boards? This is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis sign is so great and I love that it is on wood. I love anything dealing with wood. I think it instantly warms up the place and gives a texture like no other.

ReplyDeleteI'm in love with the entire area! The sign is great...but I am infatuated with that chair!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I would also love to know where that chair came from. Love it!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I am also in love with the chair! Would love to know where it came from. Love it!
ReplyDeleteDid you use stencil for the lettering or free hand it??? It looks so perfect and I have a horrible handwriting. Wondering how to get it like your's???? Loveeeeee it!!!!
ReplyDeleteDid you paint the wood? If so what did you use?
ReplyDeleteI did paint the wood. I used a watered down Behr Swans Wing White paint. You can kinda play around with how much you water it down to get the effect you want.
DeleteThis is soooo cute! I am going to make one for our nursery. This is a perfect starting point for us. Can I as the dimensions of the final product? Thanks - Jessie
ReplyDeleteI really like this idea. Anyway you could post a step-by-step for how you pulled it off? How did you get the wood together, and the white paint looks old but not?
ReplyDeleteThis is so simple but beautiful. We are replacing our back fence soon so I have a feeling I'll be putting a few of those old boards to good use.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little late but I love it! Tell me where you get the stencils from?
ReplyDeleteRenea
