Operation Emma Needs Some New Dresses: It's a Hoot Dress

FINALLY!  I got this dress done!  I don't really have any good reasons as to why this dress seemed to take forever to make.  It was just one of those doomed projects.  Do you ever have one of those?  You know, you buy fabric you think is awesome and you know you want to make some kind of a line style dress with it, but then it is all down hill from there.  You bought a zipper for it that you can't find.  You can't decide what fabric to use for the yoke.  You have never done a zipper before.... It has happened to you right?
I have to say I do like the end result.  When I finally finished it my model was not very happy about the idea of taking pictures.  I think if we had been in court I would have been able to have it go on record that she was a hostile witness.  :)

I didn't originally envision it with capris (Emma insisted on wearing them), but I think it is a good look.

 Originally I was going to do the yoke in the same fabric as the dress, but then I decided to go with somethign a little different.  I also used blue thread.  I love the pop of color.  (because this dress really needed a pop of color.)

Did I mention this dress was my first zipper.   I don't know why I was afraid if zippers all this time.  I probaly did it wrong, but I think it looks good AND it closes the dress in the back so I am happy with it.
